Koffee Kup Restaurant — Hico, Texasl The coffee is hot and good, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The dining room is clean and comfortable. That's where the good news ends. After 30+ years away, I was disappointed by how much the food quality has slipped. My wife and her cousin ordered the breakfast plate — the waffles came out overcooked and borderline burnt, dry enough to need a flood of syrup. The bacon tasted precooked and microwaved. I went with pancakes and biscuit & gravy. The biscuit was genuinely excellent, but the gravy was thin, watery, and completely flavorless. The pancakes were large and cooked fine, just bland and not very fluffy. The Koffee Kup seems to be coasting on its old reputation. Great people, disappointing kitchen. We won't be stopping in again.
